Policy of PHAIDRA
1. General description of the service
PHAIDRA, an acronym for permanent hosting, archiving and indexing of digital resources and assets, is a comprehensive digital asset management system for the permanent protection of digital assets.
The service is available at: http://phaidra.univie.ac.at
The digital objects archived in PHAIDRA receive permanent addresses, are provided with structured metadata and found by search engines.
The operation and further development of the Fedora-based repository-based software is carried out at the University of Vienna.
PHAIDRA represents the technological basis for the implementation of the Open Access Policy of the University of Vienna, according to the "Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Scientific Knowledge", which was signed in 2010 by Georg Winckler, then rector of the University of Vienna. The repository is used in EU projects, is used at further universities in Austria and abroad and serves as the basis for the Institutional Repository of the University of Vienna. It is therefore closely linked to the Currrent Research Information System at the University of Vienna and other systems.
